Stainless Steel in Infrastructure

The efficient operation of public infrastructure strongly affects the quality of our daily lives. Reliable access to energy and drinking water; ease of travelling by road, rail, air or water; safe disposal of waste and sewage; all determine the quality of our lives and work. Stainless steel plays an important but often unnoticed role in this infrastructural development.
Selecting the correct type of material to use, and in particular the correct grade of material is a decisive factor for the durability of infrastructural installations, where low maintenance schedules, optimal availability and low life-cycle cost are all key factors in decision making.

The ISSF has designed and published a new brochure on the use of stainless steel in the Infrastructure Sector of the market. It shows examples of stainless steel use in such applications in different parts of the world. It has been designed to inform decision makers about international best practices and to encourage governments, municipal authorities and design engineers to consider the use of stainless steel when planning new infrastructural projects.

The brochure is available in English and Chinese.
