This joint AISC and RCSC publication covers the design, fabrication, and installation of connections using stainless steel bolts, aligning with the main topics in the RCSC Specification for Structural Joints Using High-Strength Bolts.

This specification provides design provisions for I-girder bridge superstructures fabricated from duplex stainless steel. While focused on I-girder bridges, the provisions may be adapted for other bridge types by considering the distinct buckling behaviour and increased flexibility of duplex stainless-steel members.

This publication is one of a unified set of specifications developed for duplex stainless steel plate girder bridges. Based on the framework of AASHTO M 270M/M 270 (ASTM A709/A709M), the specification establishes the material requirements for duplex stainless steel plates used in bridge construction.
