Chromium Industry Sustainability Awards 2026 – 4th edition - Results

For this edition Glencore has won two awards in social and governance category respectively. Their partnership with the South African National Council for the Blind to improve access to eye care in communities around Emalahleni, Mpumalanga was highly praised as well as their Geographic Information Systems to enhance environmental and social risk governance across their operations, improving sustainability oversight and stakeholder engagement.
CoreX Metals and Mining – Vargön Alloys AB is a third time winner in the environmental category. The industry acknowledges their tangible efforts in decarbonisation, leading the way led the way in reducing ferrochrome Scope 1 emissions.
They have made significant progress by scaling up the production of hybrid biocarbon briquettes, achieving a 20% reduction in fossil CO₂ emissions.
