ResponsibleSteel recognises the Copper Mark

Published 05 December 2024

An important milestone in the development of the The Copper Mark (including the Nickel Mark, Molybdenum Mark and Zinc Mark) has been achieved with its recognition by ResponsibleSteel. The standard has been recognised for levels 1, 2 and 3 of the P3 responsible sourcing requirements from ResponsibleSteel International Production Standard V2.1.

The steel sector relies heavily on mined and processed minerals as an input to production processes. To help ensure that steel companies can increasingly source minerals from responsible suppliers, ResponsibleSteel recognises input material programs that are well placed to credibly verify the ESG performance of suppliers.
The Copper Mark is the leading assurance framework for the responsible production of copper, molybdenum, nickel, and zinc, with the latter three being important contributors to the steel value chain.

ResponsibleSteel has now confirmed that they have recognized the Copper Mark, which includes the Molybdenum Mark and Nickel Mark, for levels 1, 2, and 3 of the Principle 3 responsible sourcing requirements as described in ResponsibleSteel’s International Production Standard V2.1.
