Chromium Industry Sustainability Awards 2026 – 4th edition – Results
For this edition Glencore has won two awards in social and governance category respectively. Their partnership with the South African National Council for the Blind to improve access to eye care in communities around Emalahleni, Mpumalanga was highly praised as well as their Geographic Information Systems to enhance environmental and social risk governance across their operations, improving sustainability oversight and stakeholder engagement. Chromium industry – Q1 2026 outlook
Global chrome ore production decreased by 2,8% to 10,47%Mt q-o-q with output falling across most producing regions to the exception of South Africa, global ferrochrome production increased marginally by 0,6% to 4,36Mt q-o-q supported by higher output in India and the gradual restart of South Africa smelters as well as CBAM effects in the EU which supported local production.
